LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION!
A home cinema can really be installed anywhere in your house. The main requirements are that the space is dark, dedicated (no other activities happening in the room), and has good sound isolation. Simple AV has completed home cinemas for families that remodeled an old home office, unused bed room, attic space, and even in a barn. We do offer sound deadening and building the theater into a "floating room" or "suspended room" to help with noise isolation if needed. Give us a call today and we can help you figure out the best place to put your new theater!
If you're looking for the perfect spot to install your new home theater, there are a few things you'll want to keep in mind. First, the space should be dark, dedicated, and have good sound isolation. We offer sound deadening and building the theater into a "floating room" or "suspended room" to help with noise isolation if needed.
IS BIGGER BETTER? One of the best room sizes for a home theater installation is 8ft high x 10ft wide x 12ft deep. This size room is optimal because of the way sound waves behave. Unfortunately, you would probably be limited to four seats. A medium sized theater will usually have 6-10 seats, enough for the family and a few guests. To optimize this size room, we could make it a trapagon. A trapagon is designed with a narrower and lower height in the front of the theater that gets wider and higher toward the back of the room. This is popular for audiophile listening rooms as well. You will also need space for your home theater system, the electronics and control system will be stored here.
THE DOOR: BREAK ON THROUGH AND ESCAPE!
The door of your Austin home theater should be located in the back. This reduces any light or distractions coming into the theater while guests are immersed in an experience. It can also be something fun like a hidden bookshelf entry or bank vault door. Outside the cinema is where the anticipation starts so you may want to consider the design leading into the theater as well.
Some other factors to consider when choosing a door for your home theater include:
- Soundproofing: You'll want to make sure that any door you choose doesn't allow outside noise to enter the theater and disrupt the experience. There are special doors available that are designed for soundproofing, or you can seal any gaps around the door with weather stripping.
- Size: The door should be large enough to accommodate any equipment you have in the theater, as well as any guests who may need to move around.
- Style: The door should complement the overall style of the theater. If you have a traditional theater, for example, you might want a classic wooden door. If your theater has a more modern look, you could choose a glass or metal door.
AS ABOVE - SO BELOW
There is no definitive answer to this question as it largely depends on the specific goals and preferences of the individual homeowners. However, we can offer some general guidelines that may help you make a decision.
If you are simply looking for a functional ceiling that will provide good acoustics and light control, then a traditional starry ceiling design may be a good option. However, if you are looking for something more unique and personal, then consider designing a complete home cinema with an opulent ceiling that reflects your interests and taste. Whichever route you choose, be sure to consult with a professional to ensure that your new ceiling meets all of your needs.

WHEN WALLS DO TALK-
There are a few things to consider when designing your home theater walls. First, you'll need to decide what kind of speakers you want to use. In-wall speakers are a popular choice, as they're less obtrusive than floor-standing or bookshelf speakers. You'll also need to think about soundproofing and acoustic treatment. Soundproofing will help keep outside noise from interfering with your movie experience, while acoustic treatment will ensure that the sound in your theater is optimized for the best possible experience.
When choosing materials for your home theater walls, you'll want to consider both aesthetics and function. For example, if you want a more traditional look, you might opt for wood paneling. But if you're looking for something that will help with soundproofing, you might choose a thicker material like drywall. Whatever material you choose, make sure it's something that you're happy with, as you'll be looking at it for years to come!
THEY DON'T SPEAK, THEY SURROUND SOUND When choosing a home theater surround sound system, there are a few things to keep in mind. First, you'll need to decide on the number of speakers you want. More speakers means more expense, but also typically results in better sound quality. speaker placement is another important consideration. You'll want to make sure the speakers are placed in strategic locations around the room in order to get the best sound possible. Finally, consider your budget when making your decision. The more speakers you have, the more expensive the system will be. But if you're looking for top-notch sound quality, it's worth it to invest in a good surround sound system.
The main ingredient for your home cinema is the projector. Projectors have become extremely inexpensive with amazing 4k technology. The projector should be equivalent to the rest of the gear in your home theater. In other words when you decide on a budget the projector and screen should not be astronomical compared to the rest of the theater components. We can help you with these decisions and discuss with you which projectors are the best value.

DIMMING YOU SOFTLY
Your home theater is a special place where you can enjoy movies, TV shows, and other entertainment in your own private space. To get the most out of your home theater experience, it's important to choose the right lighting. The main lights in a home theater are typically hi-hats, which are used when entering and exiting the theater. Track lighting is used between the seats to provide illumination for the aisles and stairs. Sconces and LED lighting can be used to create an ambient atmosphere.
When choosing lighting for your home theater, it's important to consider the size of the room, the type of entertainment you'll be watching, and your personal preferences. You should also take into account the color temperature of the lightbulbs you select. If you want your home theater to have a warm and inviting atmosphere, choose lightbulbs with a color temperature of 2700K or 3000K. If you prefer a more energetic atmosphere, select lightbulbs with a color temperature of 4000K or higher.
When it comes to choosing the right lighting for your home theater, there are many options available. Take some time to explore all of your options and we can help you find the lighting that best suits your needs.

Functionality is also important. Make sure the rack you choose has enough space for all of your components and leave room for expansion. Racks come in many different sizes, so make sure you measure the space you have available before making a purchase.
